Sikkim govt’s crackdown on administration continues; IPS officer suspended

In a new twist to the 2013 lathicharge incident in Sikkim, IPS officer Akshay Sachdeva has been suspended following his address to the media on alleged smear campaign.

He stated that he has not done any wrong and the Supreme Court has announced that he is not guilty stating that some people are plotting against him mentioning 2013 lathicharge incident which happened inside the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha(SKM) party's headquarter.

Recently, he has been transferred as Recovery officer, State Bank of Sikkim after his long stint as ADGP (Law and Order), Sikkim Police.

This has been seen by many as a move by the present government after the change of guard in the Himalayan state with Pawan Chamling led SDF losing power to PS Golay led SKM.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he stated that the pex Court has already cleared him of all the molestation charge leveled against him by SKM functionaries.

He also appealed to CM Golay and public for support stating that there is a smear campaign going against him.

"I am compeled to tell the truth. I am not guilty at all. I need the support and justice from public of Sikkim otherwise no police would be able to perform their duty independently" IPS officer Akshay Sachdeva in a press conference.

Sachdeva has recovered Rs 1 crore loan from the defaulters within a month after being posted as Recovery Officer of State Bank of Sikkim, he stated.

Subsequently, the IPS officer Akshay Sachdeva, who is presently posted as Chief Vigilance Officer cum Recovery Officer in State Bank of Sikkim has been put under suspension.
