NPF moves out from Joint Legislative Forum citing failure towards Indo-Naga issue

KOHIMA | SEPTEMBER 2, 2020:

The Naga People's Front (NPF),  reiterated the withdrawal of its Legislatures from the Joint Legislative Forum (JLF), claiming that the peace forum has failed to make any tangible progress towards the cause of the Indo-Naga political issue.

It also claimed that the ruling People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) government, has paid less heed without any proper road map on the Naga issue.

In today's press release, the party stated that it will work and give the best effort in assisting for an early and acceptable resolution of the Indo-Naga political issue although the Legislature Wing of the party has withdrawn its membership from the Joint Legislature Forum.

"The NPF being a responsible Political party has played an active facilitator role since the inception of the party..and will continue to work with the same spirit to fulfil the aspiration of the Naga people," it added.

It alleged that the ruling dispensation did not have any confidence with the NPF legislatures.

"When there is a huge trust deficit in the JLF, the party has no point to remain in the Forum but to work on its own for the betterment of the Naga people," it said.

"Since the formation of the JLF, the party has eagerly volunteered to be part of the JLF and with the hope to render its best service towards the Naga cause but the Government of the day has miserably failed to dispatch its responsibility and taken the opposition party for a ride," it said.

With the formation of the Political Affairs Mission (PAM), the party will walk the extra mile to assist in any possible manner on any approach for a peaceful solution of the Indo-Naga political issue, it added.
