Nagaland: Teacher raises funds to buy smartphones for less-privileged students

The Education Departments across the country have been exercising the method of imparting education through online classes because of the lockdown. Fearing that all may not be in a position to take advantage of the new form of learning, a teacher named Sentikala Lemtur, hailing from Dimapur district of Nagaland, has taken up a challenging task of raising funds to purchase smartphones and to distribute them to the less-privileged children, to enable them to get equal opportunity in e-learning.

On being asked as to how she would reach out to the children, she said, it will be done by consulting the school authorities, to get detailed information on their status and do the needful. The plan was to first make her intention known on social media platforms in order to raise funds.

Donations did pour in from her friends and associates.

With much appreciation, she has been able to generate a total sum of Rs.68,800 and bought over 17 smartphones.

Sentikala is presently a counselor, also imparting various disciplines of social skills for Children in El Shaddai Academy Dimapur. She is also a member of a church organization.
