Nagaland | ECI orders re-poll at Riphyim booth on April 25
KOHIMA, April 24, 2019: The Election Commission (EC) has ordered a re-polling at polling station no. 31 Riphyim Old-III under 37 Tyui Assembly constituency (AC) in Wokha district on April 25, 2019.
As reported by this newspaper about the announcement of re-poll on April 23, it may be recalled that the re-poll was ordered following a complaint filed by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), alleging violation of model of conduct by deputy chief minister Y Patton during polling on April 11.
Additional chief electoral officer (CEO) N Moa Aier and Commissioner Nagaland and Returning Officer for Lok Sbaha PC, M. Patton confirmed the development.
As per the communiqué issued to CEO Nagaland, ECI secretary Arvind Anand stated that the Commission took note of "available reports and after taking all material circumstances into account", and order fresh polling at PS 31, Riphyim Old III.
The re-poll on April 25 will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
