KOHIMA | June 13, 2019:
The Naga People's Front (NPF), while appreciating and pledging its continued support to the signing of the Framework Agreement between the Government of India and NCSN-IM on 3rd August, 2015, has strongly urged the parties to come to term for an "honorable" inclusive political settlement without further delay.
The appeal was made as part of the six-point resolution adopted during its central executive council meeting held in Kohima yesterday and also felicitated of Dr Lorho S Pfoze, NPF candidate for winning the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat.
NPF resolved to continue to uphold the unique political history of the Nagas, which it said, the Government of India has also, of late, given recognition and it is considered to be a positive step towards solving the long standing Indo-Naga political problem.
Nevertheless, the NPF strongly felt that any political solution without recognizing the symbolic identity of the Nagas will fall short of Naga aspiration.
NPF also reaffirmed to continue to uphold its stand for integration of all Naga ancestral areas under one administrative roof.
Also taking strong exception to the Centre's attempt to make Hindi as a compulsory subject, the NPF urged upon the Centre to make Hindi as an optional and not compulsory subject.
Meanwhile, the NPF also congratulated Tokheho Yepthomi for his victory, while also applauding Narendra Modi for his second inning as Prime Minister of India.
