MNF wins lone LS seat in Mizoram

Counting for the sole LS seat in Mizoram came to an end on Thursday with MNF's C Lalrosanga emerging as the winner after defeating his closest rival, independent candidate, Lalnghinglova Hmar by 8140

Six candidates were in the fray for the lone MP seat in Mizoram — C Lalrosanga of the MNF, Nirupam Chakma of the BJP, TBC Lalvenchhunga of the PRISMP, and independent candidate — Lal Hriatrenga Chhangte, Lalnghinglova Hmar and Lalthlamuani.

The Mizo National Front (MNF), partners with North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), is leading the charge with 2,23,276 votes while the Independent candidate, Lalnghinglova Hmar, currently has 2,14,714 votes.

The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate C Lalrosanga is still leading in the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram over his nearest Independent rival Lalnghinglova Hmar.

Hmar is backed by the opposition Congress and the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) alliance.

The counting of votes are in progress in the lone parliamentary constituency and by-poll to the Aizawl West-I Assembly seat, where voting was held simultaneously in the first phase of polling on April 11.
