AIZAWL, November 21, 2018: In its desperate bid to make deeper penetration in Congress-ruled Mizoram, the BJP on Tuesday promised to include Mizo language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

In the Vision Document released here at state party headquarters Atal Bhavan, the saffron party also pledged to establish three engineering colleges, two medical colleges and three nursing training institutes. Releasing the Document, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said the party if voted to power in the northeastern state will create 10,000 new jobs every year and thus finally create avenues for as many as 50,000 jobs in five years time from now.

The saffron party also promised to ensure rice at Re one a kilo and home to every homeless family in three years. The BJP's list of promises include 'traffic jam free' state capital Aizawl in three years and all-weather pothole-free roads in first six months after coming to power. It is for the first time BJP is contesting 39 of the 40 seats in the state. Most often described as a pro-Hindu party, the BJP and its allies are part of the government(s) in seven north eastern states – which have substantial Christian population.

But so far it has not won a legislative seat in Mizoram and till date the state remains only province to be ruled by Congress in the region – where the grand old party once had a dominating presence in last six decades.

The BJP election promise also commits about the construction of trans boundary highway linking Myanmar and Bangladesh border via Aizawl to promote trade and tourism.

Setting up of football stadium in every district, setting up of eco-parks and picnic spots to promote tourism and multi-speciality hospitals have also been promised to the people of the state.
