AIZAWL, December 5, 2018: Repoll in the Ajasora polling station in Tuichawng assembly seat of Mizoram was held on Tuesday peacefully and around 87 per cent voters exercised their franchise, state election department officials said.

The repoll was ordered by the Election Commission as polling could not be completed due to technical snags in the electronic voting machines (EVMs) on November 28 when the assembly election was held.

Over 300 voters could not cast their vote in the polling station on that day due to persistent EVM problems.

Of the 1,080 voters of Ajasora , 940 people cast their votes, the officials said adding that the repoll began at 7 am and concluded at 4 pm without any incident and technical snag this time.

The polling personnel would deposit the EVMs at Lawngtlai town, around 150 kilometres away.
Counting of votes would be held on December 11.
