Militant insurgency in North East on the rise: Nagaland Guv
Nagaland Governor, RM Ravi on Thursday said that the rise of militant insurgency in the North East calls for an integrated approach of the Police, central armed police forces and security agencies of all the Northeastern states.
Pointing out that security cannot be fragmented between the States, Ravi emphasized on the "need for an integrated approach, with the rise of militant insurgency in the North East."
Ravi was addressing police chiefs of northeastern states and heads of central police organizations at Nagaland Police Complex under the theme, "Changing paradigm of challenges and Police preparedness" at Nagaland Police Complex in Chumukedima today.

He mentioned that the policing thrust now has to shift in day -to-day professional policing which he felt was grossly neglected during the long counter insurgency period.
"The dividends of peace must reach to the common man and addressing their security concerns should be our priority," Ravi maintained.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y. Patton, observed secure and peaceful environment as pre- requisite for sustained development and added that the role of Police and security agencies towards the endeavor has become manifold.
Patton highlighted on the security concerns of unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants, porous international boundary of NE, drug trafficking, rapid increase in the use of information and communication technology system, emerging challenges of cybercrime criminals and observed that all these has interstate ramifications for the whole of the northeast.

He said that it was crucial for the stake holders for ensuring that such conferences are held to deliberate on issues of security and to formulate strategies to effectively deal with the challenges.
Patton opined that the conference would be fruitful in making North East a more safer and peaceful region. He further encouraged the participating delegates to unceasingly pursue towards the cause.
