TURA | NOV 16, 2019:

Having been deprived of their salary for several months, the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers' Association (AGHSSASTA) has submitted a memorandum to the chairman of SSA and sought an order to exempt them from paying the school fees of children, until the pending salaries of the teachers have been cleared.

The teachers submitted the memorandum to the SSA chairman of WGH on Friday.

"Most of the schools (private or non private) have already notified over the payment of annual fees, tuition fees and bus fare prior to allowing our wards to give their final examination. They will also not get their result sheets if the bills are not cleared," said the teachers.

The teachers stated that irregular salaries had made life extremely difficult for them and they were not in a position to clear the fees of their wards.

SSA teachers have not been paid their salaries over the past 3 months leading to the current situation for them and their families.

In view of the problems being faced by them, the teachers have sought directions by the chairman to the various schools to allow exemption to their wards.

"We urge you to provide directions to schools to allow our children to write their exams despite the fact that they have not been able to clear their fees and get their result sheet as well. This will help ease our mental tension," added the teachers.

A copy of the memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioners of the other four districts as well and was submitted yesterday, Nov 14.
