Meghalaya: Ri Bhoi Students' Union up in arms over delayed Dwarksuid bridge

NONGPOH:

Concerned over the deceitful promise of the Meghalaya Government, who earlier stated that the Dwarksuid bridge would be completed soon, members of the Ri Bhoi Students Union (RBSU) on February 26 slammed the state government on its false promises.

The remarks from the RBSU have come to light, after witnessing that the construction of the temporary steel bridge which is assigned to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is still under its way and most of the major work is yet to be completed.

RBSU, Working President Amberlight Masharing, has expressed displeasure over the promise of the Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, who visited the construction site on December 15, 2020, who also assured the public that the bridge would be completed and dedicated by January 15, 2021.

“Dwarksuid Bridge is one of the major bridges along Shillong Bypass which connect Meghalaya with other states, but because of the detection of some cracks on the bridge the construction of the temporary steel bridge was called upon and handed over to the BRO to complete the construction,” Masharing said.

The Ri Bhoi Students Union has put out their demands to the state government and the transport department to take immediate measures on the completion of the Dwar Ksuid Bridge so that public will not face any more hurdles while travelling through the state routes which connect with other states.
