NONGPOH:

The Ri Bhoi Youth Federation, Mawhati Circle, served a one-week deadline to the state government to meet the urgent needs of the Umsohlait Police Station or else the organisation would be compelled to take drastic action.

According to sources, the police station at Umsohlait under Mawhati Assembly Constituency has been serving the public for the last five years but since then it has been running without proper facilities including quarters and other essential needs.

Speaking to newsmen, Reynold Dkhar, General Secretary of the RBYF, said that the organisation is very concerned to learn the pathetic situation of the police station which is one of the major government structure in Mawhati area which include villages falling under disputed areas.

He also said that a proper RCC building is needed at the earliest.

“The RBYF has once again raised the issue with the state government, especially the Home department seeking the attention of the government concerned toward the plight of the Umsohlait Police Station,” Dkhar stressed.

It may be noted that the police officers have rented out a building of the Village Employment Council of Umsohlait village.
