Meghalaya: North Garo Hills gets cricket academy, over 140 youths join

Over 140 children, between the ages of 6 to 18 years, joined the newly inaugurated cricket academy in the town of Salpara, Mendipathar in North Garo Hills.

The academy which was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills, RP Marak, will be run by the NGH District Cricket Association.

Training will be provided by Board of Control for Cricket in India ‘O’ level coach, Sooraj Rabha with assistant coach, Chingseng Marak.

The academy will nurture budding cricketers in all aspects of the game.

“Meghalaya has seen a surge in cricket because of the success of local players. We have tried to provide a platform for budding cricketers to get trained and take on the sport. We are hopeful of producing some great future cricketers who we hope will represent the state and the country,” said Bacheng Marak, the NGHDCA vice president.

Also present during the inauguration was the NGHDCA president, Sengnap Momin, along with other members of the association.
