Meghalaya: Man burnt alive after vehicle catches fire in Mawlai

SHILLONG | March 5:

In a tragic incident, one person was burnt alive after an abandoned vehicle he was in caught fire in a garage at Mawlai Phudmuri in Shillong today morning

Police informed that the man was sleeping inside the vehicle when the incident happened adding that this case has no connection with the stray incidents reported from across the Khasi Hills region as a fall-out of the Ichamati clash.

Furthermore, it was informed that the man, whose identity is yet to be verified, used to sleep in that vehicle (Ambassador) which was abandoned in a garage. "He must have lighted something to warm himself which later must have caught fire," said EKH SP City, Bikram D Marak.

The body of the deceased has been taken by the police for post mortem.
