Meghalaya HM directs DGP to ensure safety of police force amid covid-19 crisis

SHILLONG/TURA | MAY 04, 2020:

Home Department of Meghalaya has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to implement every possible way to ensure the safety of the state police force on duty during a challenging period.

The decision came after many personnel of the Para-military forces and those in front line were tested positive for coronavirus countrywide.

Meghalaya Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said that while taking into consideration the difficulties faced by the Police Department, the DGP has been asked to do all the necessary things to protect the police force.

Rymbui said that all the Para-military forces operating in the state will have to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures whether it's the State Police or any other forces.

He added that life cannot remain stagnant and all the economic activities in the state must be started as everything cannot be held to ransom by Covid-19.
