Meghalaya girl allegedly kidnapped by Assam resident

In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by a resident hailing from Assam after he entrap the girl, who was on the way to her uncle's house in the district.

The parents, after trying to get her back home since she went missing on Oct 14 filed a FIR in the Baghmara Women's PS today, Oct 21. The girl hails from South Garo Hills district (SGH).

Reportedly, a 33 year old Jasangir Islam, who is married to a woman from the village of Asokgre in SGH, allegedly took the girl to Assam as per the FIR filed by the parents, of where he is a resident.

While details were still unclear as to what transpired, the parents in the FIR stated that the 15 year old was on her way to her uncle's house in Baghmara to stay there but went missing.

The parents then tried to contact the girl as well as her alleged abductor but none of the calls were received.

The parents of the minor girl thus sought the rescue of the girl from the clutches of Jasangir as well as appropriate action under the law against the culprit.

Confirming the FIR, the superintendent of police, SGH, Abraham T Sangma said, "We have received the FIR and the matter is being looked into. Appropriate action will be taken against the matter."
