BAGHMARA

The United Democratic Party (UDP) held a public meeting on February 13 at Baghmara, South Garo Hills to kick start its campaign for the forthcoming GHADC elections.

Senior party leaders of the UDP including President Metbah Lyngdoh, Minister Kyrmen Shylla, Samuel Sangma MLA, Vice President Allantry Dkhar, General Secretary Dr Jemino Mawthoh and several other leaders from Garo hills were present on the occasion.

All the speakers who spoke on the occasion emphasised on the need and importance to elect leaders who would bring the much needed change in governance and administration of the GHADC which has recently come under criticism.

According to party sources, the UDP is hopeful that it will open its account once again in the Garo hills to expand the election momentum.

Earlier in a meeting at Williamnagar, the State Election Committee decided that the last date for receiving applications for contesting the GHADC elections will be on or before the 23 February 2021.
