Meghalaya: Five held; fake currency notes seized in Ri-Bhoi district

Assam police personnel on February 13 nabbed 5 people who were allegedly involved in fake currency smuggling from 9 Mile in Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya.

It was informed that the Assam Police from Jorabat Police Outpost acting on a tip off laid a trap at 9 mile to nab people who were suspected to possess fake currency notes. Police nabbed these people at 9 Mile of Ri-Bhoi District.

The five persons who were arrested are Haidur Ali (45), Joymal Abidin (32), Saiful Islam (35), Joyman Begum (26) and Therina Sohpdang (38).

According to sources, police recovered a vast amount of fake currency notes bearing 500 rupees, which were meant to be smuggled to Meghalaya.

Further investigation in the case is on.
