Meghalaya cops assault case: KSU leader gets bail

The president of KSU North Khasi Hills District, Ferdynald Kharkamni was released on bail after he was arrested for assaulting the two cops at Umiam police station.

The bail was issued by the District & Session Judge, Nongpoh on Friday evening, sources informed.

It may be mentioned that the KSU Ri-Bhoi unit, president had gone absconding after he had assaulted the officer-in-charge and a police constable of Umiam police station on October 15.

Earlier, the Meghalaya police had also issued a 'look out notice' for the president of KSU Ri-Bhoi unit. The Ri-Bhoi police on October 21, had registered a case against the KSU leader for allegedly assaulting the head constable of Umiam Police Station, B. Bordoloi. Kharkamni was finally arrested on Monday after evading arrest for more than a month on November 19.

Kharkamni was received by the KSU leaders and members besides the family members at the Nongpoh District Jail after he was release on bail.
