Meghalaya | Congress bypoll debacle: There is conflict within party, admits Ampareen

SHILLONG | Oct 27:

Senior Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the defeat of the party in all the bye-elections in the State only proves that the Congress is going through a bad phase.

"It's the bad phase in the Congress history. There are several factors which contributed to the defeat of the party in these bye-elections," Ampareen, who is the party MLA from East Shillong, said here on Sunday.

According to her, the party has not made efforts to ensure that a correct selection of candidates has been put in place.

"Even if the correct choice of candidate has been awarded the party ticket then we have not worked hard enough. We have to take a collective responsibility for our failure. There is no two ways about it," she said.

The senior Congress leader, without dwelling on the issue, only said that there is conflict within the party.

When asked about the dismal performance of the Congress party in the Shella bye-election, she said that the whole party will have to take responsibility for this huge lost.

"We cannot blame anyone for this huge lost. We have to blame ourselves as a party," Ampareen said.
