Meghalaya: Children, women tie rakhis to BSF & BGB personnel at Bangladesh border

SHILLONG | August 16, 2019:

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Thursday, women and children from Meghalaya tied rakhis to Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in Meghalaya's Tamabil, Dawki.

In the auspicious occasion, a group of women and children from the state visited several outpost to greet the personnel and tie rakhi on their wrist.

BSF Commandant of 30th Battalion, SR Khan said that their Bangladeshi counterparts, the BGB, were fully cooperating at the border.

He greeted his counterpart BGB's Humayu Khan and said that Bangladesh and India are friendly countries and this is part of confidence building measure which began in 2011 and they will continue to celebrate all festivities together, he said. They are not our counterparts, but they are our neighbours, he added.

The Humayu Khan also replied that both countries enjoyed a cordial relationship.
