Meghalaya: Bodies of two persons recovered in WGH

The bodies of the two persons, who drowned yesterday have been recovered from the two places where they had gone missing on Thursday.
One Nipha Marak (21), the son of a former sports officer of the state, had accidentally fallen into the Ganol River near Pelga Dare on Thursday, while he went there with some friends.
The incident took place at about 3 pm last evening with a search and rescue operation conducted by the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) and SDRF being undertaken immediately after the information of the mishap was relayed.
Nipha, was a resident of Dakopgre in Tura, West Garo Hills.
While there was no breakthrough made by the rescue teams yesterday, the body of the 21-year-old was recovered this afternoon at about 3 pm, July 24.
"His body was recovered near Chibbonggre in the river stream near Damalgre this afternoon. All formalities were completed before the body was handed over to the family of the victim," confirmed superintendent of police, WGH, Dr. MGR Kumar.
In another incident, North Garo Hills police recovered the body of another 20-year-old man about 300 metres from the place where he allegedly jumped into the river Chidrang, near Resubelpara in the district.
The 20-year-old was apparently suffering from mental illness for the past 4 years.
"He reportedly jumped off the bridge yesterday at about 2 pm after which search operations were conducted with the help of local villagers. His body was recovered this morning, about 300 metres from where he jumped to his death," said SP of North Garo Hills, Abraham T Sangma.
The deceased was a resident of Jampara under Mendipathar PS in NGH.
