Meghalaya: AGHSSASTA writes to EM Lakhmen Rymbui over pending demands of SSA teachers

TURA | FEB 20, 2020:

Irritated over the delay in payment of salaries, All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers' Association (AGHSSASTA) on Wednesday submitted a written to Meghalaya Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui, over the pending demands of the SSA teachers.

The teachers sought the enhancement of their salaries from current Rs 19044 (LP) and Rs 20493 (UP) to Rs 45,000 per month stating that the amount was not sufficient to provide for themselves and their children.

Further they also sought the transfer of their salaries directly into their bank accounts as they are given reduced salaries as there are cuts made by the SMC president and secretary for travel expenses.

"New teaching staff, including BMCs, BRCs and even cooks have their salary credited to their account so why can't we too be paid into our accounts," said the memo by the teachers.

The teachers also wanted their jobs to be regularized as quarterly salaries were making life difficult for them. They also demanded equal pay for all 4th SSA UP teachers.

Lastly the teachers sought the release of their arrears for the year 2016-17.
