Manipur: Imphal West on alert after bombs found planted near schools and residential areas

Imphal West is on alert after a number of bombs were found planted near schools and residential areas recently. The Imphal West district police has taken up precautionary drive to avoid any untoward incidents and launched search operations in the area.

It may be mentioned that several bombs have been found planted at schools, and other public spaces of the city. Though with the timely police action most of the bombs were safely disposed. But one person was injured from twin grenade blast recently at Khuman Lampak road near Manipur Mountaineering Trekking Association on Monday last.

As per a report in Imphal Free Press, nobody has come forward to claim responsibility of the twin grenade blast at Khuman Lampak and the bomb found planted at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai at a private residence a few days back.

On the other hand, KCP (MC) has claimed responsibility for planting bomb at the Little Flower School.

Meanwhile, Imphal West district commando and team of City police on April 27 conducted search operation at M.G. Avenue, Majorkhul, Kalibari and Hotel Nongin in Thangal Bazar area. The operation was conducted from 4.50 pm to 5.40 pm.
