IMPHAL | AUG 19, 2020:

Five Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly (MLA) who had earlier resigned from the Congress party, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, August 19.

The five members include Okram Henry Singh, Oinam Lukhoi Singh, Ngamthang Haokip, Ginsuanhau and Paonam Brojen. It may be mentioned that Okram Henry Singh is the nephew of Congress Legislature Party leader Okram Ibobi Singh.

BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, Vice President Baijayant Panda and Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh were present during the event.

It may be noted that the BJP-led government had won the trust vote by a margin of 28-16 on August 10th, after which the opposition MLAs from the Congress had submitted their resignation and quit from the party the next day.
