Manipur: 3 cadres of two banned outfit arrested  near Patna Junction

IMPHAL | August 10, 2019:

Three cadre of the two banned outfits were arrested by a joint team of Manipur and Patna police in Hardinge Road near Patna Junction late on Thursday night.

The arrested cadres were identified as Sapam Kangleipal Meetei alias Chiranglen alias Sarat (37), Wahengbam Thoi Luwang alias John (36) and Kangabam Roshan Singh (27).

Police sources said several cases were lodged against the three with
different police stations in Manipur. They were also booked under Section 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Patna SSP Garima Malik said the three owed allegiance to KCP (PWG) and KCP (Maoist), the two banned outfits in Northeast India.

Malik said that the motives behind the arrested are yet to be known and pre
liminary interrogations suggest that the trio had planned to travel to Kolkata from Patna.

She added that a team of Manipur police comprising of 6-7 officers had reached Patna on Thursday.

The three were produced before a Patna court on Friday. The court granted five-day transit remand of the trio to Manipur police.

Sources said that a sub-divisional police officer of Imphal's East district had written to Patna police about movement of the three cadres in the city and no suspicious item or weapon was recovered from their possession.
