Manipur: 25-yr-old man arrested for posing as IPS officer

A man has been arrested by the police on Monday, on charges of sending vulgar messages on social media in Manipur.

The 25-year-old man was impersonating as an IPS officer and was sending vulgar messages to women through social media, he was arrested by the cybercrime unit of Thoubal Police on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Kh Prasanta, hailing from Irilbung Kalika area in Imphal East.

According to the complaint, Prasanta, had sent vulgar messages to many women through Facebook's messenger. It was reported that he was arrested last year, too; for extorting money by masquerading as the superintendent of police.

Prasanta, on being questioned by the police had admitted that he had sent the messages to many women impersonating as an IPS officer and was also trying to take money from them, an officer said.
