As a mark of respect and solidarity towards the sacrifices made by the 49 CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir (Pulwama), the Shillong Road Side Hawkers' Association today pulled down their shutters from 9 am to 12 noon and took out a silent rally in the city main commercial hub– Khyndai Lad.

Similarly, many towns of Garo Hills today shut shop in the wake of the call given for a 'Bharat Bandh' across India to show solidarity with the 49 martyred CRPF personnel in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Feb 14.

The town of Tura as well as Rongjeng this evening held a candle light march as a mark of respect to the slain martyrs.

The towns of Phulbari and Dalu in WGH, Garobadha and Mahendraganj in SWGH, Williamnagar and Rongjeng in EGH as well as places like Gasuapara in SGH and others were also shut down to condemn and show solidarity with the victims and their families.
