Girl sets herself on fire after continuous sexual harassment

Upset with continuous sexual harassment, a 17-year-old girl, who sets herself ablaze on Saturday, has died of sever burn injuries. The incident occurred in Naguar district of Rajasthan. Earlier in May, the victim's father had filed a sexual harassment case against the accused.

"A case has been filed and post-mortem has been carried out. We received a complaint from a man that his daughter set herself on fire after sprinkling kerosene on herself," news agency ANI quoted Makrana SHO Jitender Singh Charan as saying.

According to police, the accused was arrested after the girl's father filed a case against him under a law
that protects children from sexual offences.

In March this year, a 30-year-old women set herself ablaze a week after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 26-year-old youth in Hardoi. The woman took the drastic step after police filed an FIR against the accused. The youth was booked on charges of rape based on the complaint of the victim's husband.
