Dr. Rajesh Kumar appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Manipur

IMPHAL | AUG 01, 2020:

Dr. Rajesh Kumar was appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Manipur on Saturday after state-based student organizations had demanded an appointment of native Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers for the post.

Kumar is currently serving as the additional chief secretary (finance) of the state.

Governor Najma Heptulla, in an order, said that Kumar will hold the charge of Chief Secretary of Manipur with immediate effect until further orders in the public interest.

According to media reports, Kumar is a 1988 batch IAS officer of Manipur cadre and ranked 10th among the cadre officers of the batch.

Former Chief Secretary Suresh Babu retired on July 31 after having served the position since 2018.
