Crucial day for Meghalaya; Congress moves ‘No Confidence motion’ against NPP led govt

A crucial day for the state of Meghalaya today as the entire state awaits with bated breath for the outcome of the special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to adopt a resolution demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) as a mechanism to tackle influx with the passage and approval of the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019.

As the Assembly meets, the Opposition Congress moved a 'no-confidence motion' against the NPP led MDA government.

Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh refused to admit the no-confidence motion during the one-day special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

The NC was moved by three Congress Legislators-George B. Lyngdoh, Himalaya Shangpliang and Zenith Sangma.

They stated they are moving a resolution on the failure to deal with prevailing law and order situation, fiscal mismanagement and corrupt practices of the NPP led MDA Government.
