“China is a Big Bully,” says Meghalaya Rajya Sabha MP Dr. WR Kharlukhi

SHILLONG | JUNE 25, 2020: 

Newly-elected Rajya Sabha MP from Meghalaya, Dr. WR Kharlukhi has termed the COVID-19 a "Chinese virus" as the infection was first detected in China. His statement came at the backdrop of the India-China border tensions. 

"I am very much in line with U.S president, Donald Trump in naming this virus after China. If we can call the 1918 flu pandemic a Spanish flu, then why can't we call Covid-19 a Chinese virus?" Dr. Kharlukhi questioned. 

Reacting to a query on the India-China border stand-off, the Meghalaya MP said, "China is a big bully."
