BJP and Congress workers get into a fight in Tripura

AGARTALA | AUGUST 21, 2020:

In a clash between the Bharatiya Janata Party workers and the Congress workers, around 30 people and a police constable were injured at Bishalgarh Sepahiijala district, Tripura Thursday.

The clash took place after the Congressmen were halted by BJP workers while on their way for a party meeting.

"They clashed among each other over staging a road blockade. Police personnel from the Bishalgarh police station intervened and issued a mild lathi-charge to disperse the mob. During the process, some people from both sides were injured. A police constable sustained head injuries," said Additional Director General of Police Rajiv Singh.

The police said that a suo-moto case has been registered over the injury of the constable.

Meanwhile, both the Congress and the BJP have accused the police of using violence.
