KOHIMA | June 10, 2019:
Two armed cadres of the NSCN (K) Yung Aung – Myanmar based faction were apprehended by the Assam Rifles along with two pistols, hand grenades, detonators, explosives, ammunition, extortion slips and other incriminating documents.
According to Defence PRO (Kohima) Col C Konwer, the apprehended cadres were identified as Ghileto Zhimo (24) of V K Town in Zunheboto district and SS Capt Hekzhav Awomi Kanbo (32) of Homeland village in Dimapur.
The duo was apprehended from Piphema and Burma Camp on June 7 and 8 respectively.
Col Konwer informed that both were involved in series of extortion activities and weapon smuggling in Dimapur and Kohima districts.
"The apprehension has given a big blow to the faction extortion network. Apprehendees along with recovered items were handed over to Medziphema Police Station for further investigation," said the Defence PRO.
