Assam Polls 2021: AGP nominates 13 candidates in third list

GUWAHATI:

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has released its third list of candidates for 13 Assam Assembly constituencies.

Assam minister, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and sitting MLA Ramendra Nath Kalita have been given tickets to contest Bongaigaon and Gauhati West constituencies respectively while veteran leader and former minister, Kamala Kanta Kalita has been nominated from Chaygaon constituency, a seat which he had won in 2006.

Interestingly, folk singer Kalpana Patowary, who hails from Assam and is popularly known as ‘Bhojpuri Queen’, has been nominated for the Sarukhetri seat, a development which was earlier predicted though.

Kalpana had joined the regional party here in October last year, and the regional party leadership had thereafter appointed her as the brand ambassador of the party.

Among others in the AGP third list are Bhupen Rai (North Abhayapuri), Javed Islam (Mancachar); Purnendu Banikya (South Abhayapuri); Jyotish Das (Goalpara East); Sheikh Shah Alam (Goalpara West); Ranjit Deka (Bhawanipur); Gunindra Nath Das (Barpeta); Rabiul Hussain (Chenga) and Jyoti Prasad Das (Boko).
