Assam: Congress-AIUDF alliance will be thrown to Brahmaputra river, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

North-East Democratic Alliance(NEDA) convenor and Finance minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 28 said the people of Assam will throw the Congress-AIUDF alliance in the Brahmaputra in the upcoming assembly election of Assam.

Addressing a ‘Yuva Samaroh’ rally in Dibrugarh on Sunday, Himanta Biswa Sarma came down heavily on Badruddin Ajmal led All India United Democratic Front(AIUDF) and Congress for misleading the people of Assam by taking out a rally “Assam Bachao”.

Sarma said, “Rhinos were killed mercilessly in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) and their horns were chopped off by poachers during the Congress rule. Now the same party in alliance with AIUDF is taking out the rally of ‘Assam Bachao’. They should know that they cannot save Assam because Badruddin Ajmal thinks for Bangladesh. We have to save our culture, community, religion and history from these people, therefore today we have to take an oath to drive back Ajmal into Brahmaputra in the upcoming assembly election.”.

“Assam is safe under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule. In last 15 years rule of the Congress in Assam people had witnessed rampant corruption. Congress had created chaos and confusion in the society and divided the society during their rule. But after our government came into power, we have worked hard for the development of Assam and in last five years of our rule we have proved,” Sarma added.

The NEDA convenor came down heavily on the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for luring voters through showing currency notes in the recent Sivasagar rally.

“He cannot lure voters by showing currency notes because now people want development. It is not ‘Mujra’ that by showing currency notes you can purchase votes. In last five years of our rule we have given many schemes and raised the wages of the tea garden workers which cannot be done by the previous government,” Sarma said.
