3 dead after boulder hits vehicle in Sikkim

GANGTOK | March 11, 2020:

In a tragic incident, three persons died on the spot after an SUV carrying tourists fell in a river after being hit by a boulder leaving seven others injured in East Sikkim district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Jharna Saha, Priya Ghosh and the driver as Tularam Chhetri.

The incident took place when the vehicle was hit by a rolling boulder from the hillside in the Rongli police station area.

According to police, group of tourists from West Bengal were travelling in two cars. The second vehicle was also hit by the boulder but its occupants did not suffer serious injuries.
