Shillong Archbishop Jala’s mortal remains brought to Laitumkhrah Cathedral

The mortal remains of Shillong Archbishop, Late Rev Dominic Jala was brought to the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians in Laitumkhrah, Shillong on Monday morning.

His mortal remains of Jala reached Guwahati yesterday afternoon and was received by his family members and Catholic faithful from across the State from Guwahati Airport. Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma and other members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly were also present to receive the mortal remains of Jala.

From Guwahati, the mortal remains was taken to Guwahati Province then Byrnihat Parish, Nongpoh Parish, Umsning Parish and reached Mawlai Parish at around 11 pm last night.

Faithful gather at Laitumkhrah Cathedral to pay their respects

From there, the mortal remains was taken to Jala's parental home in Mawlai Phudmuri, which is located just next to the Mawlai Parish.

Archibishop's remains will be kept in the Laitumkhrah Cathedral for two days for faithful to pay their last respect and funeral will be held on October 23.
