Musical Meghalaya: Pro-ILP supporters rejoice after Assembly passes resolution on Inner Line Permit

Meghalaya's citizens are known for being fond of music; it's played everywhere — family programmes, weddings, sporting events and even during protests and agitation.
Recently, during a public gathering at Mawlai against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, unlike the rest of the country, the locals resorted to music to express their opposition.
While some the singers rapped and sang in the local language on the "dangers" that await the indigenous people with the coming of the CAA, hundreds danced and shouted in unison the traditional chant "Hoi Kiw".
It was a spectacular sight to witness amid all the ugly and violent protests elsewhere!
Once again, a similar scene was repeated in the premises of State Central Library in Shillong as pro-ILP supporters jumped for joy, dancing to the beat of a Khasi "patriotic" song being played at the background, at the news that the Assembly had unanimously passed an official resolution seeking the implementation of the Inner Line Permit in the state.
Thousands of people have been gathering at the premises since 10 in the morning today to await the outcome of the one-day special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to adopt a resolution on ILP.
