Meanwhile, chief minister Conrad K Sangma was welcomed with slogans and black flags at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills yesterday. Hundreds of protestors surrounded the CM's convoy and started shouting slogans and displayed black flags.

Angry protestors turning away the state's chief minister, Conrad Sangma, from being able to take the chopper service in trying to return.

Williamnagar residents on Thursday thronged the streets in protest against CAB while condemning the act of the Tura MP, Agatha Sangma. Chants of Agatha Sangma go back rent the air with the protestors condemning the BJP led NDA government for what most in the NE consider a life changing Bill.

The rally in Williamnagar yesterday was led by the NGOs, including the GSU, FKJGP, AHAM among others and saw huge participation.

As per information received, the CM was in the town of Williamnagar to inaugurate the Negmandal PHC as well as be a part of the Togan Nengminza memorial service as Chisobibra, about 8 kms from the town.

Angry protestors firstly stopped the CM from inaugurating the PHC with chants of him to go back. The Tura MP was lambasted by them for what they termed as betrayal to the people of the region.

While Conrad was able to be a part of the memorial service, he was not allowed to return to the town after protestors blocked the road by burning tires and branches of trees on the return route. He had to abandon the plan to use the chopper service, which was waiting for him at the Rongrenggre field with sources stating that he returned by his convoy.
