GANGTOK | JUNE 28, 2020:

Heavy rains for the past one week have triggered a series of landslides that damaged the dam of the NHPC in the East District and with major damage to Passingdang Secondary school.

Villages of Lum-Lingtyang, Lower Dzongu, North Sikkim have been completely cut off from the rest of the state by a massive landslide that occurred last night at Aapdara, Dikchu above NHPC Teesta Stage V dam.

Many residents of the Himalayan state have raised caution over the landslide having an impact on the safety of the dam.

However, the civilians have been evacuated on time. No casualties reported so far.
