IN PICTURES: Dr Roy’s mortal remains reach Guwahati, CM accompanies journey to Shillong

SHILLONG | July 29, 2019:

The mortal remains of Meghalaya Speaker, Dr Donkupar Roy, who passed away on Sunday, was brought to his hometown (Shillong) on Monday morning, CM Conrad Sangma was also present at Guwahati airport to receive the body of Dr Donkupar Roy.

Dr Roy passed away due to organ failure at New Delhi on Sunday at around 3.15 pm. He was admitted in Medanta Super Speciality hospital at Gurgaon, Delhi since July 19.

As a mark of respect, the Chief secretary has informed that all state government offices throughout the state shall observe three days state mourning from July 29 till 31.

During the period of state mourning, the National Flag will be flown at Half mast on government buildings throughout the state where it is flown regularly and there will be no official enterntainment during the period of mourning.

All state government offices and all revenue and magisterial courts and education institutions in Meghalaya will remain closed on July 31.

The state funeral of Dr Donkupar Roy will be held at Sohra on July 31. The Burial will be at Shella on the same day.
