Coronavirus | Meghalaya: All edu institutions to remain closed until March 31

SHILLONG | March 16:

The Health and Family Welfare Department, government of Meghalaya has issued and advisory to close down all educational institutions from March 17 to March 31 to prevent the possibility of an outbreak and spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and as a precautionary measure to safeguard the citizens of the state.

The Education department has also stated that only examination centres for MBOSE, ICSE, NEHU, CBSE and other institutions that are undergoing examinations will remain open.

The notification issued by the education department today stated that:

#All Educational institutions within the state are to remain closed except for holding examination.

#Places of mass gathering like Cinema halls, Gynasiums, major sports events and Swimming pools are to be closed.

#Conference, workshops, meeting, seminars, training etc which involve large gatherings are to be postponed or cancelled.

#All non-essential travel outside and into the state are to be postponed or avoided.

#Visiting big open and enclosed market and Tourist places are to be avoided.

#Social distancing and hand-hygiene to be maintained in places of work and workship.

#Notified fairs and festivals are to be postponed or cancelled.

#Close contact in public transport is to be avoided.

#Companies or offices with work from home option may permit employees to do so.
