The voters have gathered at their respective polling booths to exercise their franchise. The poll was deferred following the demise of CPIM leader Ramendra Narayan Debbarma.
16 percent turnout was recorded till 9:00 am.
Nearly 39,000 voters of the constituency have slated to cast mandate across 40 polling stations in Charilam constituency, 20 kilometer from here till 4PM today.
However, those who will join the queues before before closing time will be allowed to vote, Deputy CEO Debashish Modak informed.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma is contesting at the seat while Left Front said they withdrew from the poll fray two days back. Officially, the Left alliance is still contesting.
