Shillong Jan 13,2018: North East United FC broke their losing streak in their last match with Goa and yesterday's match saw the Highlanders host reigning champions Atletico de Kolkata in Guwahati.

The first half of the match saw no goals from either side and not alot of opportunities created, however the visitors did appeal for a penalty which was not given.
Both teams came back from the break determined to find the back of the net with both  sides attacking more fervently.
Kolkata looked impressive in the second half with multiple saves by Northeast keeper TP Rehenesh.
Northeast have had a hard time scoring this season. The team had no problem going forward but lacked the finishing quality. Both teams desperate for three points and the game delightful for anxious fans. Kolkata upped their attack and broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute with a brilliant goal by Zequinha who's previous effort was denied by the Northeast keeper. Northeast tried to find the equalizer but the Kolkata defence stood still and held on to their lead.
Northeast will play Chennaiyin next and with 5 defeats in 6 matches,  the Highlanders will hope their bad run comes to an end.
