Reggie- The friend no more
By Shweta Raj Kanwar
I saw you
Standing beside me
Although, with closed eyes;
I saw you
With expecting eyes
That look of yours
But that guilt of mine;
It was dark,
I was scared,
Yet you never left my stead,
You were with me
In my smile and grief
A friend, a companion
My silent solace;
As I enter the premise,
You no longer wait,
And all i see is that empty kennel
Haunted by your absence
But things have changed
You no longer stand with me
Your eyes, I see them
Your face: still loving
But last night you came
To see me cry
You lifted your paw
And asked me why
'I miss you', I said
'I am sorry', I begged
But all you did
Was look at me
'weep no more my friend'
'for i was and i am still free'!
