Nagaland: Limasunep takes over as Dimapur Commissioner of Police

In the aftermath of Dimapur incidents and demands for suspension of Dimapur Police Commissioner, one IPS officer Limasunep Jamir has taken over as the new Commissioner of Police in Dimapur with effect from February 3 while another IPS officer Vechipa Vise has also taken over as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police of Zone- I in Dimapur. In a statement through the additional deputy commissioner of police and PRO of Dimapur police stated that the commissioner of police has informed that the police exist for the people and the people for the police and this symbiotic relation has always existed in one form or the other in every society.

Appealing to the citizens not to take law into their own hands, the new commissioner of police added that all the laws are products of social requirements and exist to serve the people, to maintain peace and order in society. The commissioner of police has also sought the cooperation and support of the people to maintain peace and restore normalcy in the district. He assured that Dimapur police would tirelessly endeavor to provide a credible, transparent, accountable police administration in the service of people, to whom it is dedicated to serve, the statement said.
