SHILLONG, July 11, 2017: The National People's Party on Tuesday suffered a jolt after one of its prominent members, ECB Bamon call it quits just few months before the state goes to polls next year.

Bamon, a former NPP legislator from Nartiang submitted his resignation letter to the NPP state unit president WR Kharlukhi on Monday evening.

Talking to media persons, Bamon said the party has no future after the demise of Former Lok Sabha Speaker, Purno A Sangma.

"I have been associated with late Sangma since 1982. When he left the Congress in 1999, I had also followed him. Since he is longer there, I felt there is no point for me to remain with the party," Bamon said while talking to media persons.

He said that the two sons of Purno- Conrad K Sangma and James K Sangma does not have the capacity like their father.

"The two sons also lack direction. I can only say that the future of the party is very bleak," the former NPP legislator said.

He, however, did not disclosed what party he is going to affiliate himself with even though he confirmed his decision to contest the upcoming Assembly Poll from Nartiang.
