Meghalaya: Forest Officer issues helpline Nos. to facilitate felling of potentially harmful trees!

SHILLONG, Aug 15, 2017: In view of the recent tragic accident that took place on Saturday at AG Point near Raj Bhavan in Shillong whereby four vehicles were damaged and three people were crushed to death due to falling of a tree, the Divisional Forest Officer(Khasi Hills Division) has issued a notification to the general public, government departments, institutions, organizations and schools to contact the following numbers of the Forest Department for facilitating the felling of trees posing danger to human life and property in Shillong.

The helpline numbers issued by the department are 9436999102, 9436999145, 9436998362.

It may be mentioned that due to incessant rains that has been a continuous phenomena in recent weeks not only in Meghalaya but most plparts of the Northeast Indian region, many trees have been uprooted causing harm to property and most importantly human lives. This has evoked great amount of concern from one and all upon the need and importance of cutting down trees that may be a cause of impending disaster in the near future.
