Meghalaya exchequer supplemented by Rs 80 lakh in 6 months; Thanks to traffic violators!!!
SHILLONG: The revenue department of the Meghalaya government has been supplemented by Rs 80,24,830 in the last six months. Thanks to the gracious attitude of the traffic violators of Shillong!
According to the statistics provided by the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) East Khasi Hills, NK Syiem, it was revealed that in the last six months (March till August), the revenue generated from clamping of vehicles in and around Shillong comes to over Rs 80 lakh.
It was informed that in the last six months, as many as 1508 vehciles were clamped and Rs 80 lakh was realised as fine.
Despite the efforts of the STP to manage traffic in congested Shillong continues, yet the problem persists.
What seems to be the need of the hour is for even stringent measures for we are approaching pandemic levels in traffic rules violations.
